## Meet our USTP Campaign\!

The first FH to launch a campaign in Austria...

Signatures displayed: 326. Current signature goal: 1,000. Counts can change.

## What is the problem?

### 57% of food emissions come from animal products

Food systems are responsible for around a third of all global greenhouse gas emissions, and animal products are the dominant driver. Meat and dairy alone generate more emissions than all the world's planes, ships, and cars combined. Every meal USTP serves is a choice between perpetuating this crisis or being part of the solution.

## What can we do?

### More than 300 meals/day served at USTP

Every plate is a decision USTP makes and can change. USTP has already committed to achieving the 17 SDGs which includes Climate Action. Going 100% plant-based is one of the most visible, controllable ways to actually deliver on that promise.

## Is that even possible?

University of Graz went fully plant-based. Edinburgh hit 70% — and USTP can be next\!

## Petition

To the CEO of University of Applied Sciences

As a well-known European University, the USTP symbolizes future progress for Austria and beyond. However, its current practices do not fully reflect its scientific and educational principles.

- In Europe, food alone is responsible for 30% of total greenhouse gas emissions, with meat and dairy production making up most of that percentage ([Petrovic, 2015](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2211601X15001315)).
- Switching to a plant-based diet can help reduce food-related greenhouse gas emissions by up to 70% [(Springmann, 2016)](https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.1523119113).
- Animal-based foods occupy 83% of the world's farmlands but only provide 18% of our calories ([Poore & Nemecek, 2018](https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.aaq0216)).

By embracing this campaign, the USTP has the opportunity to lead by example, setting a powerful precedent for institutions worldwide. Change begins with bold decisions, and the time to act is now.

We are working with the USTP to transition to 100% plant-based catering as quickly as possible. This vision of a sustainable future can only be realized with your support.
