## What is the problem?

### 57% of food emissions come from animal products

Food systems are responsible for around a third of all global greenhouse gas emissions, and animal products are the dominant driver. Meat and dairy alone generate more emissions than all the world's planes, ships, and cars combined. Every meal the University of Sheffield serves is a choice between perpetuating this crisis or being part of the solution.

## What can we do?

### Thousands of meals/day served at the University of Sheffield

Every meal is a decision the University of Sheffield makes and can change. The University of Sheffield has already committed to achieve net zero emissions by 2038, with specific 2030 checkpoints in high-impact areas such as purchasing and capital projects, travel, laboratories, digital services and food.

Going 100% plant-based is one of the most visible, controllable and achievable ways to actually deliver on that promise.

## Is that even possible?

University of Graz went fully plant-based. Edinburgh hit 70% — and other unis have already made the pledge, such as Cambridge and Southampton. The University of Sheffield can be next\!
