## We are turning the University of Salzburg fully plant-based\!

Join us in making the University 100% plant-based\!

Signatures displayed: 388. Current signature goal: 1,000. Counts can change.

## What is the problem?

### 57% of food emissions come from animal products

Food systems are responsible for around a third of all global greenhouse gas emissions, and animal products are the dominant driver. Meat and dairy alone generate more emissions than all the world's planes, ships, and cars combined. Every meal the Uni Salzburg serves is a choice between perpetuating this crisis or being part of the solution.

## What can we do?

### Hundreds of meals served at the University of Salzburg every day

Every plate is a decision the University makes and can change. The University of Salzburg has already committed to being climate neutral by the year 2040. Going 100% plant-based is one of the most effective and controllable ways to actually deliver on that promise.

## Is that even possible?

University of Graz went fully plant-based. University of Vienna transitioned two cafeterias to 70% plant-based — and the University of Salzburg can be next\!

## Petition

To the Vice-Rector for Research

PBU is a student-led grassroots campaign founded in the UK in 2021, currently active in over 80 universities across Europe. We fight for climate justice through encouraging institutional change, by advocating for 100% plant-based procurement at university canteens and catering.

By divesting from animal agriculture, University Salzburg can make an important contribution to climate justice, drive the transition toward a fair and sustainable food system, and increase acceptance within society. Universities already play a major role in addressing the climate crisis through their research and serve as fertile ground for societal change. We are asking the University Salzburg to follow their research and adopt plant-based catering.

At the University of Graz, a fully plant‐based cafeteria has been running successfully for over a year and at the University of Vienna’s Oskar‐Morgenstern‐Platz cafeteria the catering has been 70% vegan and 30% vegetarian since November 2023. BOKU could become the next fully plant-based university in Austria.
