## We are making the University of Bath fully plant-based\!

Our current goal is to make the University of Bath 'plant based by default', so students will have to specifically request meat options at University outlets\!

Signatures displayed: 2. Current signature goal: 1,000. Counts can change.

## What is the problem?

### 57% of food emissions come from animal products

Food systems are responsible for around a third of all global greenhouse gas emissions, and animal products are the dominant driver. Meat and dairy alone generate more emissions than all the world's planes, ships, and cars combined. Every meal our university serves is a choice between perpetuating this crisis or being part of the solution.

## What can we do?

### Thousands of meals served per day at the University of Bath

Every plate is a decision the University of Bath makes and can change. The University of Bath has already committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2040. Going 100% plant-based is one of the most visible, controllable ways to actually deliver on that promise.

## Is that even possible?

University of Graz went fully plant-based. Edinburgh hit 70% — and Uni of Bath can be next\!

## Petition

To the Vice-Chancellor and the Executive Team of the University of Bath

The University of Bath is among the many Universities across the world that publish the data that tells us just how bad animal agriculture is for the climate. They themselves have stated that 'reducing meat consumption is by far the single largest action we can take to reduce our carbon footprint'. We believe that the university should practice what they preach, and remove meat and dairy items from their menus,

We, as students and staff, call upon the University of Bath to stand by their principles and commit to making menu items at their outlets plant based by default. This means students get to choose between delicious meals, not whether or not they want to save the planet. Students by default will be provided plant-based options but can request meat, so without vastly changing menu options at all, we vastly reduce emissions and bring the University of Bath in line with their sustainability goals.
